Surf Coast Shire Council is currently looking to fill multiple Kindergarten roles to commence in early 2026. If you are passionate about the education and care of young children and want to be part of an organisation that values the wellness, safety and education of children aged 0-5 years, we want to hear from you.


Our Kindergarten Educators:

  • Ensure the provision of a high quality education and care program that meets the approved learning frameworks and National Quality Standards set by the Victorian Government; and
  • Support an inclusive and safe environment for children where innovation, creativity, active play and resilience are encouraged.

 

What you will bring to the role
We are currently looking for Early Childhood Educators who are compassionate, dedicated and driven to making a positive impact on the lives of our local community members and their families. 

To thrive in this role you will have: 

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and practice
  • Knowledge of approved learning frameworks, National Quality Framework and national law and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills


Position 1 - Early Childhood Educator – Torquay Kindergarten 
Ngurr Ngurr 4yo group 
17.75 hours per week
14 hours contact time (as below), plus 3.75 hours non-contact time (negotiable spread across the week).
Contact time
Wednesday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
Thursday: 8:30am – 4:00pm

Position 2 - Early Childhood Educator – Kurrambee Myaring Kindergarten 
Kanyul 4yo group 
19 hours per week
15.25 hours contact time (as below), plus 3.75 hours non-contact time (negotiable spread across the week) 
Contact time
Wednesday: 11:00am – 12:00 noon (lunch cover) and 12:30pm - 3:30pm (Bush Kinder)
Thursday: 9:00am – 3:00pm
Friday: 9:00am – 3:00pm

Position 3 - Early Childhood Educator –Jan Juc Preschool 
Bush Kinder Additional Assistant & Lunch Cover Winki, Addis & Birdrock groups
16 hours per week
14 hours contact time (as below), plus 2 hours non-contact time (negotiable spread across the week) 
Contact time
Tuesday: 8:30am – 11:30am and 11:45am – 12:45am (lunch cover)
Wednesday: 8:30am – 11:30am and 1:00pm– 4:00pm
Thursday: 11:30am – 2:00pm (lunch cover)
Friday: 11:00am – 1:00pm (lunch cover)

Position 4 - Early Childhood Educator – Jan Juc Preschool and Kurrambee Myaring Kindergarten – lunch cover position
4.5 hours per week
4.5 hours contact time (as below)
Contact time
Tuesday: 11:30am – 2:00pm (Jan Juc Preschool)
Friday: 11:00am – 1:00pm (KMCC)

 

Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • Minimum Certificate III in Children’s Services from an ACECQA approved training organisation. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and families. 
  • Experience in assisting in the development and implementation of an educational program in accordance with approved learning frameworks. 
  • Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and an understanding of how this impacts on daily practice.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication with children, staff and the wider community. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with all staff. 
  • Ability to manage risks and identify health and safety issues pertaining to workplace. 
  • A current level II First Aid qualification, including Asthma, Anaphylaxis and CPR.
