Your new career
Join our Integrated Planning Department  and play a pivotal role in shaping how people move around the Surf Coast for years to come. 

As our Strategic Transport Lead, you'll establish Council's strategic transport planning function, leading the delivery of a three-year roadmap that embeds transport planning into the way we plan, design and grow our communities. 

Working across the organisation and with key external partners, you'll influence the future of public, active and integrated transport while supporting vibrant, connected places where people love to live, work and play.

Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in strategic transport planning, land use planning or a related discipline (qualification check conducted). 
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic transport planning including strategy and policy development. 
  • Understanding of movement and place frameworks, mode hierarchy development and active transport planning. 
  • A pragmatic problem solver and facilitator able to navigate complex strategic transport planning matters with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Well-developed relationship management and communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the public, Councillors and staff. 
  • Experience in applying a project management approach to strategic planning projects. 
  • A strong appreciation of the Surf Coast Shire Context.

We also need you to have:

  • A current Victorian driver’s licence and working With Children Check
  • The permanent right to live and work in Australia
  • Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). 
    A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
