Surf Coast Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from motivated and experienced individuals interested in casual opportunities across our Operations Teams.

Whether your background is in civil construction and maintenance or parks and open space maintenance, we’re keen to hear from you.

Successful applicants will join our casual talent pool and may be contacted as operational needs arise across our Torquay and Winchelsea Depots.

Areas of Opportunity

Civil Maintenance

• Road and drainage maintenance
• Footpath, signage and municipal asset maintenance
• Plant and equipment operation
• Civil construction and maintenance activities

Open Space Maintenance

• Parks and reserve maintenance
• Turf and horticultural works
• Irrigation and landscape maintenance
• Maintenance of community open spaces

What You'll Bring

We're looking for people who:

• Enjoy working outdoors in a hands-on environment
• Are reliable, safety-focused and team-oriented
• Take pride in delivering high-quality work
• Have relevant experience in civil, parks, horticulture or open space maintenance
• Are committed to providing positive outcomes for our community

Experience in a Local Government environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

Applicants may possess one or more of the following:

Civil Maintenance

• Experience in civil construction and maintenance
• Medium Rigid (MR) driver's licence or higher
• Experience operating plant and equipment
• Knowledge of civil infrastructure maintenance

Open Space Maintenance

• Certificate III in Horticulture, Sports Turf Management or related field
• Agricultural Chemical Users Certificate
• Medium Rigid (MR) driver's licence or higher
• Experience in parks, turf or open space maintenance

Mandatory requirements

Successful applicants will be required to hold or obtain:

• A current Working With Children Check
• The permanent right to live and work in Australia
• Pre-employment medical assessment will need to completed 
• Police Check results suitable for the position (arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council)
• Any licences, certifications or qualifications relevant to the position being offered

A complete international criminal history check is required if a person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time, or a complete national criminal history check if they have only ever worked in Australia.
