Your new career
The Civil Operations Team provides a maintenance service for all of Council’s civil assets. These include roads, drains, paths, signs and other assets in the roadway.
The maintenance service includes proactive and reactive maintenance and ranges from repairing broken things to ongoing preventative maintenance like regular street sweeping, cleaning reflective signs and clearing blocked drains.
In this role you will operate one of Council's 3 Road Graders to keep our unsealed roads in tip top condition.
What you will bring to the role
We’re seeking a skilled Road Grader Operator with the experience and know-how to keep our roads safe and well-maintained. You’ll bring proven ability in maintenance grading, formation grading, re-sheeting with new material and rural open drainage works.
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- Extensive experience in civil works and plant operation
- Knowledge of municipal assets and local government environments
- Hands-on experience with unsealed road maintenance grading
Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements
- Holder of a current Heavy Rigid (HR) or higher driver’s licence with relevant endorsements to operate plant as assigned.
- Skills and knowledge gained through on-the-job training relevant to the position, including specifically to road grading and road grader operation.
- Several years’ experience in civil works.
- Experience in maintenance of municipal assets.
- A current Working With Children Check
- You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia
- Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council).
A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
